ELK GROVE, Calif. – Cal State Fullerton came on strong on the final day of the Sacramento State Invitational, as the Titans won the day, posting a tournament low score of 286 to finish second overall with a final score of 874 (+10) on Tuesday out at Valley Hi Country Club.
Tuesday's final round score for Fullerton marked its best of the tournament and the second best of any round in the event, just behind Grand Canyon's second round score of 285.
The Titans finished at +10 overall, just behind tournament winners Grand Canyon (-2) and in front of Big West rival UC Santa Barbara (+15). Other Big West participants UC Irvine (+36) and UC Riverside (+41) placed fifth and sixth receptively.
Three Titans placed within the top-20 with Jack Ireland leading the way, placing fourth and even four the tournament at 216. He was consistent throughout, shooting a 71, 72 and 73 respectively.
Ty Stites also had a tournament to remember, falling just off par at +1. He finished tied for fifth, saving his best round for last, shooting a 74, 73 and 70 in his three rounds.
Mark Cobey finished just behind Stites in sixth place (+2), also having his best round of the event on Tuesday, recording a 72, 77 and 69 for a final score of 218.
The Titans look to stay hot this weekend, as they'll head to Las Vegas to take part in Jackrabbit Invitational on Friday and Saturday.
