Wyoming Desert Intercollegiate Day One Results
PALM DESERT, Calif. --- Cal State Fullerton wrapped up the opening round of the Wyoming Desert Intercollegiate Friday at the Classic Club Golf Course in Palm Desert, Calif.
The Titans currently sit in a tie for fifth place overall after shooting a 5-over 293 on Friday. They are tied with No. 34 Kansas andn one stroke back of No. 5 Texas Tech. No. 10 Oregon currently leads the tournament and was the only team to shoot under par, posting a collective 6-under 282, seven strokes better than second-place TCU.
Jack Ireland paced the Titans on Friday, finishing the opening round with a 2-under 70 to put himself in a tie for fifth place on the individual leaderboard. Ireland recorded four birdies on the day and is three strokes off the lead, held by Oregon's Norman Xiong at 5-under.
Mark Cobey carded a 1-over 73 and sits tied for 15th after the opening round. He recorded two birdies on the day along with an eagle on the 560-yard par-5 No. 14.
Ty Stites and Martin Manalo each finished the first round with a 3-over 75 to round out the Titans team scoring. They both sit tied for 41st in the 124-player field. Matt Wilson posted a 5-over 77 and sits tied for 70th after day one.
The Titans will return to the links Saturday with a shotgun start set for 7 a.m.
