FULLERTON, Calif. – The Cal State Fullerton men's golf team unveiled its 2016-17 schedule Tuesday, a slate that includes 10 tournaments before the Big West Championships and NCAA Regionals.

"I loaded the schedule this year because I feel our team is more competitive top to bottom," Cal State Fullerton Director of Golf and men's head coach Jason Drotter said. "Our roster is fairly deep with seven or eight guys who can travel. They're young and competitive and considering their results over the summer I think we are much stronger going into this season and I have high expectations."

The Titans return nine golfers from last year's squad including Matt Wilson, who earned Big West Honorable Mention as a freshman in 2015-16. Wilson led the Titans with a 73.80 scoring average in his first season at Fullerton. The Titans will also add three newcomers to the squad this upcoming season.

Fullerton recorded nine top-10 finishes and two top-5's during the 2016-17 season, eventually finishing seventh in the Big West Conference Championships.

This season, the Titans will play four tournaments during the fall portion of the schedule, three in the state of California. Fullerton opens the 2016-17 season on Sept. 12-13 at the Itani Quality Homes Collegiate hosted by Washington State at Palouse Ridge Golf Club in Pullman Wash. The team takes a month off before returning to the links on Oct. 17-18 with the Bill Cullum Invitational hosted by CSUN at the Wood Ranch Golf Club in Simi Valley, Calif.

On Oct. 27-29, the Titans head to the Visit Stockton Pacific Invitational hosted by Pacific at the Stockton Golf and Country Club in Stockton, Calif. They finish off their fall schedule on Nov. 4-6 at the Ka'anapali Collegiate Classic hosted by Hawai'i at the Ka'anapali Golf Club in Lahaina, Hawaii.

After winter break, Fullerton returns to the links to host the seventh annual Folino Invitational at Industry Hills Golf Club in City of Industry, Calif. on Jan. 30-31. Last year, Samford took the team title while Long Beach State's Daniel Chian claimed the medalist honors. Fullerton finished in ninth; marking the first time they did not record a top-5 team finish at the event. They won the tournament in 2014.

A few weeks after the Folino Invitational, the Titans will participate in the Wyoming Desert Intercollegiate on Feb. 17-19. The tournament is hosted by the University of Wyoming and will be played at the Classic Club in Palm Desert, Calif.

A week later, Fullerton will head to the 21st Del Walker Intercollegiate hosted by Long Beach State on Feb. 27-28. It will be the Titans sixth appearance at the Del Walker Intercollegiate. Their best team finish came in 2013 when they tied for third place overall.

For the third straight year, Fullerton heads to the Sacramento State Invitational on March 6-7. The tournament will be held at the Valley Hi Country Club in Elk Grove, Calif. The Titans finished third overall in the team standings in 2015-16, besting their 10th place finish from the 2014-15 season.

Later that same week, Fullerton heads to the Jackrabbit Invitational on March 6-7 co-hosted by South Dakota State and Hawai'i at the Siena Golf Club in Las Vegas, Nev. Fullerton then wraps up the year at the El Macero Classic hosted by UC Davis at El Macero Country Club in El Macero, Calif.

The Big West Conference Championships will be held from May 1-3 at Sandpiper Golf Club in Santa Barbara, Calif.

The NCAA Regionals will be held May 15-17 at six sites: University Club (Baton Rouge, La.), The Grove (Murfreesboro, Tenn.), Kampen Course (West Lafayette, Ind.), Stanford Golf Course (Stanford, Calif.), UT Golf Club (Austin, Texas), and Washington National Golf Club (Auburn, Wash.).

The 2017 NCAA Championship final will take place May 26-31 at Rich Harvest Farms in Sugar Grove, Ill.
