Wilson Named Big West Conference Honorable Mention
IRVINE, Calif. – A week after a third-place finish at the Big West Championship, freshman Matt Wilson was named Big West Conference Honorable Mention as announced by the league on Wednesday.

Wilson, playing in his first collegiate season, led the Titans in three events during the spring while totaling five top-20 finishes during the year.

The rookie from Cypress, Calif., led the Titans with a 73.80 scoring average and ended the year with a phenomenal performance at the Big West Championship as the top finishing freshman in the Big West, tying for third overall.

Wilson carded a three-round score of 1-under 215 to finish tied for third, the best placement for a Titan since Mark Anguiano tied for second in the standings in 2014. Wilson's finish at the Big West Championship was also the best for a Titan rookie since the program was reinstated for the 2010 season.

During the year, Wilson also led the Titans at the Arizona Intercollegiate (38th overall) and the 20th Del Walker Intercollegiate (2nd overall).

Wilson played in 10-of-11 tournaments during the season, and produced his best performance at the 20th Del Walker Intercollegiate with a career best round of 67, a career best three-round score of 207 and a career best finish of second.

UC Santa Barbara's Brandon Bauman earned the Big West Men's Golf Player of the Year honor.  UC Davis' Ryan Knop nabbed the Big West Men's Golf Freshman of the Year award and Rick Todd, from UC Riverside, received Big West Men's Golf Coach of the year accolades.
