Titans Maintain Lead at Warrior Princeville Invite After Day Two

FULLERTON, Calif. - Entering the day in first by two strokes, the Cal State Fullerton men's golf team extended its lead heading into the final round to four strokes after another impressive round Tuesday at the 2013 Warrior Princeville Makai Invitational at the Princeville Makai Golf Club in Princeville, Hawaii.

Fullerton holds a four-stroke team lead over Louisville after the Titans combined to shoot a 14-under par 274 in the second round. After shooting a first round 272 (-16), the Titans are now 30-under par (546) after 36 holes. The Cardinals stand in second with a total score of 550 (-26) after posting a 13-under 275, in both the first and second round. Mississippi State (-25, 551), Arizona State (-18, 558), and Baylor (-17, 559) round out the top five in team scoring on the 72-par course.

The tournament, hosted by the University of Hawai'I, is host to three teams currently ranked in the top 50 by Golfstat.com including No. 15 Baylor, No. 27 Arizona State, and No. 42 East Tennessee State.

Fullerton's Mark Anguiano shares the individual lead after shooting 6-under par (66) on Tuesday. Anguiano entered the day 7-under par (65) and in second behind Mississippi State's Chad Ramey. Ramey shot a second round 68 (-4) after shooting a 9-under par in the first round on Monday. Anguiano and Ramey will both enter the final 18 holes 13-under par with a score of 131. Anguiano tallied five birdies and one eagle during the second round.

Behind Anguiano is senior Corey Gard who shot a 69 (-3) on Tuesday and is currently tied for 12th place. Gard began the day tied for 21st and after two rounds of play he has an overall score of 139 (-5). After two rounds of play Ryan Tetrault is tied for 18th with an overall score of 140 (-4). Tetrault shot a second round 70 (-2) after also shooting a 2-under par in the first round on Monday. The Villa Park, Calif., native contributed three birdies and an eagle on the 18th hole in the second round.

After finishing day one tied for fourth, freshmen Kyle De Silva slips to 25th place after shooting 2-over par (74) on Tuesday.  De Silva shot a first round 67 (-5) and now has an overall score of 141 (-3). Senior Josh Park made a big improvement on day two moving up 13 spots to 25th after shooting a 69 (-3). Park shot a first round 72 (E) and now has an overall score of 141 (-3).

Play at the Warrior Princeville Makai Invitational wraps up tomorrow Wednesday (November 6) with the final round starting at 8:30 a.m. Results will be available on FullertonTitans.com and Golf Stat.com as soon as they are available.
