Tetrault Leads Titans Into Second After Day One of Sac State Invitational

FULLERTON, Calif. – After 36 holes of play at the Sacramento State Invitational in Northern California, the Cal State Fullerton men's golf team will enter day two of the 54-hole event tied in second place after shooting a two-under par (574) as a team.

The Titans were atop the leaderboard for majority of the day, but at the end of the second round Fullerton lost the lead to conference foe UC Santa Barbara (-4, 572). Chico State, the 37th ranked team in Division Two, is tied with Cal State Fullerton after day one after also shooting a two-under par. Boise State finished the day even (576), while Southern Utah and USC Upstate finished six-over par (582) to round out the top five teams.

UC Santa Barbara's Glen Scher holds the individual lead after shooting seven-under par, which included a 67 first round. USC Upstate's Adam Goins currently stands in second place after finishing the day five-under par (139).

Sophomore Ryan Tetrault led the way for the Titans shooting three-under par for the day. Tetrault shot a first round 70 and a second round 71 to finish the day tied for fifth place. Junior Mark Anguiano finished tied for seventh after posting a first round 71 and second round 72  (-1). Anguiano finished with nine birdies after 36 holes.

In his first tournament of the spring not as an individual, freshman Michael Choe finished the day tied for 11th place after finishing one-over par. Choe shot a 71 second round. Senior Dakota Duerr finished the day two over par (146). Duerr had two eagles and three birdies, but nine bogey holes hurt him overall. Corey Gard was four-over par for day (148) after shooting a first round 76 and second round 72.

Josh Park
, competing as an individual, finished day one in 45th place after shooting six-over par (150).  Park shot a first round 73 and a second round 77 and will be the first Titan to tee off.
