FULLERTON, Calif. — Dominic "DJ" Brewton has signed to join the men's basketball program for the 2023-24 season, head coach Dedrique Taylor announced.
"DJ brings a high level of winning experience and maturity to our group that I am excited about," Taylor said. "His ability to score multiple ways will improve our ability to be more efficient on the offensive end of the court. I am enamored with his successful perspective and adding to our culture to help us continue to grow and develop together."
A 6-foot-4 guard from Cincinnati, Ohio, Brewton saw action in three seasons at Alcorn State. In 2022-23, he averaged 12.0 points on 40.3% shooting to go with 3.7 rebounds and 1.7 assists in 25.7 minutes per contest. Brewton poured in a career-high 26 points in a game against Texas Southern on Jan. 14 and reached double figures in scoring 18 times last season. He was named an All-SWAC First Team member at the conclusion of the 2022-23 campaign.
Brewton is the eighth newcomer to sign with the Titan program for the 2023-24 season. He joins transfers Donovan Oday of Arlington, Texas, Jalen Cooper of Holiday, Florida, Beril Kabamba of Clearwater, Florida and Zach Visentin of Spanish Fork, Utah, as well as incoming freshmen Keith Richard of Dallas, Texas, Kendrick De Luna of San Antonio, Texas and Antwan Robinson of East St. Louis, Illinois.
