Irvine, Calif. - Cal State Fullerton men's basketball lost at UC Irvine on Saturday night by a score of 91-61. The Titans scored on the first possession to lead 2-0 but that would be the only lead they had as UC Irvine took an 11-2 lead and did not relinquish it.
The Titans (8-15, 3-5 Big West) lived at the free-throw line as the Anteaters (14-9, 6-1 Big West) committed 30 fouls which led to 18 made free throws on 29 attempts. However, UCI shot 57.1% (32-56) from the field, 63.6% (7-11) from three and 20-21 from the line. Fullerton shot 37.3% (19-51) from the field and 5-15 (33.3%) at the free-throw line.
Senior forward Jackson Rowe tied for the team lead in scoring with 18 points to go with six rebounds, three assists and two blocks. Senior guard Brandon Kamga also scored 18 points and grabbed four rebounds. Senior forward Davon Clare tallied 13 points and one rebound. Senior guard Austen Awosika, the team's second-leading scorer was held scoreless in 24 minutes of action.
Next up, Fullerton returns home for a four-game homestand, beginning with UC Riverside on Wednesday at 7 p.m. PT on ESPN3.
