Men's Basketball Wins 66-62 at LBSU

FULLERTON, Calif. - Cal State Fullerton men's basketball picked up the first Big West Conference win of the season on Saturday, beating Long Beach State 66-62. Led by senior forward Davon Clare's career-high 17 points, the Titans have now defeated LBSU in five straight games.

The Titans (6-13, 1-3 BWC) pulled out a close one as the game featured six ties and seven lead changes. LBSU (6-14, 1-3 BWC) was on top for 27 minutes while CSF led for just nine, but the Titans got it done down the stretch, connecting on nine of their 10 free throws in the last four minutes. Neither team made a field goal in the final four minutes of the game.

Fullerton shot 38% (21-55) from the field, 31% (8-26) from distance and 16-25 (64%) at the line. The Beach also shot 38% (18-48) from the floor, 35% (6-17) from beyond the arc and 77% (20-26) at the charity stripe.

Clare scored 15 of his 17 points in the second half as the Titans dealt with foul trouble from seniors Jackson Rowe and Austen Awosika. Clare also chipped in seven rebounds, two assists and two steals. Rowe was effective when he was on the court as he had 16 points, five rebounds and two steals in 30 minutes of action. Senior guard Brandon Kamga tallied 16 points, eight rebounds, three assists and two steals, including one to break the deadlock with under a minute left in the game.

Next up, Fullerton heads to UC Davis on Wednesday for a 7 p.m. PT tip.
