FULLERTON, Calif. – Danny Sprinkle, who had been the assistant coach of the Cal State Fullerton men's basketball program for the last six years, has accepted a position as the head men's basketball coach at his alma mater, Montana State.

"This is what success looks like, hard work, sacrifice, defeat, victory, growth and development," Titans head coach Dedrique Taylor said. "These words embody Danny Sprinkle, I can't even put into words how proud I am to have been a part of his success and how excited I am to watch his immediate impact as he builds his alma mater to reflect his version of success. Thank you, Coach Sprinkle, for who you have been to us and for us. The best is yet to come!"

Sprinkle, who was also the recruiting coordinator in his tenure at Fullerton, was part of the best stretch in Cal State Fullerton men's basketball history as the Titans won 10+ Big West games and went to the postseason three years in a row, the first time both feats have ever been accomplished. The Titans made the final of the Big West Tournament in 2018 and 2019, also a first for the school to earn back-to-back trips to the final. Sprinkle and the 2017-18 squad won 20 games, won the Big West Tournament title and earned a trip to the NCAA Tournament.

"There are so many people to thank," Sprinkle said in Montana State's press release. "This is an unbelievable opportunity for me, my friends and my family. I wouldn't be anywhere close to where I'm at right now without the support and guidance of so many individuals.

As a freshman in 1996 at Montana State, Sprinkle was a starter during the team's magical run to Big Sky regular season and tournament championships, landing All-Big Sky Tournament honors for his 30-point performance in the Championship. Sprinkle earned Big Sky Freshman of the Year honors in 1996 and first team all-league honors in 1997. He held the MSU career and season three-point records upon graduation and remains the seventh-leading scorer in school history.
