Men’s Basketball’s Allman Earns Second Big West Player of the Week Honor

FULLERTON, Calif. – After scoring a career-high 40 points on Saturday night, junior guard Kyle Allman, Jr. was recognized as the Big West Conference Player of the Week.

Allman is the Big West Men's Basketball Player of the Week for the second time this season and the third time in his career. He averaged 32.0 points per game in a 1-1 split at home against UC Santa Barbara and at Hawai'i.

The 6-3 guard was unstoppable in a key comeback road win against first-place Hawai'i.  He scored a career-high 40 points, one point off the Stan Sheriff Center single-game points record.

Allman dished out a team-high four assists, meaning he had a role in 49 of the team's 69 points in a 69-66 victory.  He accounted for 19 of CSF's final 30 points to help the Titans erase a 50-39 deficit with 13:30 to go in the game.

The 40 points is the fifth-best scoring performance in Titan history.  Allman is the first Titan since Tre' Coggins – who had 41 against CSUN on Jan. 9, 2016 – to score 40 points in a game.

Even more impressively, Allman achieved the feat on an efficient 16 of 19 shooting.  The career-high 16 field goal makes included five three-pointers (in six attempts).  He sank three treys in the final 11:14 as the Titans mounted their comeback.

Allman was no slouch in a 70-65 loss to UC Santa Barbara, finishing with 24 points, three rebounds, two assists and a steal.  He shot 9-of-17 from the field.

For the season, he is second in the league in scoring at 18.8 points per game. In conference play, he is scoring 22.1 points per game, the top mark in the Big West.

CSF returns to action on Saturday, looking for the season sweep when it hosts UC Irvine at 7 p.m. PT on ESPNU.
