Men's Basketball Wins Fifth Straight Behind Ahmad’s Career Night Against Utah Valley

FULLERTON, Calif. – Cal State Fullerton men's basketball earned its fifth consecutive win this season with a 91-83 victory over Utah Valley on Saturday night. The Titans were led by junior guard Khalil Ahmad who had career highs in points, 34, and three-point field goals, six.

For the second time this season, four Titans were in double figures. Ahmad scored his 34 points on an efficient 11-21 FGA and 6-10 from distance. He also hauled in four rebounds, dished out one assist and recorded one steal. Sophomore forward Jackson Rowe (15 points and five rebounds), junior guard Kyle Allman, Jr. (12 points and three steals) and sophomore guard Austen Awosika (12 points, six rebounds and five assists) were the other double-figure scorers for CSF.

Each of Utah Valley's five starters came into the game averaging double figures and all five of them scored double figures tonight. Kenneth Ogbe led the team with 17 points while Akolda Manyang and Jake Toolson each had 15 points.

It was a back-and-forth affair all night, as there were 14 lead changes and the score was tied seven times. Ahmad scored 10 straight points for the Titans with just under three minutes left in the second half to push the gap to 85-74 and the Titans would not relinquish that lead.

The offense was humming for Fullerton as they scored a season-high 91 points, made a season-high 10 three-point field goals on a season-high 52.6 (10-19 3FGA) percentage. Although the team connected on only 19 free throws, they did attempt a season-high 30. On the defensive end, the Titans recorded a season-high 10 steals, led by Allman's three.

The Titans hit the road for their next three games, starting with California on Dec. 16 at 1 p.m. PT on the Pac-12 Networks.
