OPPONENTS & HISTORY

UC Riverside | 7:00 p.m.  | ESPN3

Wednesday, Jan. 18 | Titan Gym

The Titans welcome the Highlanders to Titan Gym for their first meeting this season. The Highlanders are coming off a 61-55 win over UC Davis at The SRC on Jan. 12 for their first conference win of the season in three tries. All three of the Highlanders wins this season have come at home. The road has been a different story for UC Riverside as the Highlanders are currently 0-9 away from The SRC. Secean Johnson and Chance Murray currently lead the Highlanders in scoring, averaging 11.5 and 10.6 points a game respectively.

Head-To-Head:

The Titans lead the all-time series against UC Riverside, 28-20. The teams split the season-series in 2015-16 with each squad winning on the others' home floor. UC Riverside has won four of the last five meetings after the Titans ran off five straight wins from 2012-2014.

Last Meeting:

The Titans turned the ball over 14 times and that led to 20 points for the Highlanders as UC Riverside scored an 81-71 win at Titan Gym on Jan. 30. Three Titans scored in double figures and the team led at halftime but the Highlanders outscored Fullerton, 54-40, in the second half to score the victory.

TITANS AND CONFERENCE PLAY

Cal State Fullerton is in its 43rd season as a member of the Pacific Coast Athletic Association/Big West Conference and holds an overall record of 292-388 all-time. The PCAA changed its name to the Big West Conference in the 1988-89 season and since then, the Titans hold a 189-285 record.  Fullerton won regular season titles in 1975-76 (PCAA) and 2007-08 (Big West) and conference tournament championships in 1977-78 (PCAA) and 2007-08 (Big West). From 1967-74, CSF played in the California Collegiate Athletic Association and posted a 24-36 mark.

ON THE AIR

Wednesday night's game against UC Riverside will be broadcast on ESPN3 with Trent Rush (PXP) and Richie Schueler (Analyst) on the call. Tipoff is set for 7 p.m. The Titans will make a total of 10 television appearances during the 2016-17 season. The breakdown includes seven appearances via ESPN3, one on the Pac-12 Network, one on Fox Sports Prime Ticket and one on the Mountain West Network.

LAST TIME OUT - UC IRVINE 87, CAL STATE FULLERTON 67

Cal State Fullerton never led and had a tough shooting night from the field as the Titans fell, 87-67, to UC Irvine in a Big West Conference game Saturday night at Bren Events Center in Irvine, Calif. Fullerton (8-9, 2-2) could not get anything going offensively in the first half and trailed the Anteaters (11-9, 4-0) by 17 at halftime. The Titans would make a push in the second half but UC Irvine answered by outscoring Fullerton 24-15 in the final 8:48 to secure the win and stay unbeaten in Big West play. The loss was Fullerton's 10th straight defeat at the hands of the Anteaters. Kyle Allman led the Titans offensively with 13 points on 2-for-5 shooting and a 9-for-10 night at the free throw line. Jackson Rowe added 11 points with four rebounds and Lionheart Leslie tallied nine points. For the Anteaters, Luke Nelson led all scorers with 20 points on 7-for-11 shooting and 3-for-6 from 3-point range while Ioannis Dimakopoulos was a handful for the Titans defense on the inside, scoring 19 points on 9-for-13 shooting.

STRIPES

Cal State Fullerton made a season-high 26 free throws in Saturday's loss at UC Irvine. The Titans are currently ranked second in the Big West and 35th in the nation with 432 free throw attempts this season and their 294 makes rank third in the Big West.

DOUBLE FIGURES

The Titans currently have four players averaging double figures in Big West games, led by Tre' Coggins and his 13.8 points per game average. Kyle Allman and Lionheart Leslie are each averaging 10.8 points a game in conference play while Khalil Ahmad is at 10.3 per game. Jackson Rowe is flirting with double figures; currently averaging nine points a game in conference.

IT TAKES MORE THAN TWO

The Titans had just two players (Kyle Allman, 13 points; Jackson Rowe, 11 points) reach double figures in Saturday's loss at UC Irvine. Fullerton is winless (0-5) when two players or fewer tally double figures in a game this season and 8-4 when at least three players score 10 or more in a game.

DEFEND THIS HOUSE

Cal State Fullerton has won seven of nine games at Titan Gym this season and defense has been a big reason. In the nine home games, the Titans have allowed opponents to score 68 points a game on 37.9 percent shooting and 31.6 percent from beyond the arc at Titan Gym. Fullerton has also out-rebounded opponents 390-320 at Titan Gym, a 43.3-35.6 advantage per game. In road games, the Titans are allowing 87.7 points a game with opponents shooting 48.6 percent from the field and 40.3 percent from deep. Fullerton's rebounding advantage is also narrower on the road, a 200 (33.3 per game) to 193 (32.2 per game) advantage is six games away for Fullerton.

TITANS TEAM RANKS

The Titans are second in the Big West Conference in blocks (3.9) and total blocks (66), and defensive rebounds per game (28.41) and ranked third in overall rebounding at 38.29 a game. Additionally, Fullerton is ranked second in the Big West in scoring average (76.6 ppg), field goal percentage (46.4 %), and field goal percentage defense (41.7%).

PAINT BY NUMBERS

Cal State Fullerton has outscored its opponents 570-447 in the paint this season. UC Irvine outscored Fullerton, 48-30, on the inside in Saturday night's game but marked just the third time in 17 games that The Titans have been outscored in the paint and first since Nov. 25 against Jacksonville State.

ON DECK FOR THE TITANS

The Titans will have more than a full week off before returning to the basketball court on Thursday, Jan. 26 at the Walter Pyramid to take on Long Beach State. The game will be televised on Fox Sports Prime Ticket and is set to tipoff at 7:30 p.m.
