LAS VEGAS – Cal State Fullerton returns to Las Vegas and the Thomas & Mack Center this weekend for the final rounds of the Global Sports Classic. The Titans will face Jacksonville State on Friday morning and then close out the weekend against either Northern Arizona or Alabama State on Saturday.

The Gamecocks snapped a three-game losing streak on Tuesday with a win over Dalton State, 81-50, in JSU's home opener. It was the team's first win since the season opener at Tulsa on Nov. 11, an 84-73 victory. The Gamecocks had four players in double figures led by Erik Durham and Andre Statam who scored 14 apiece. Norbertas Giga recorded a double-double with 12 points and 11 boards along with a team-high five assists.

Head-To-Head:

Friday's game will be the first ever meeting between the Titans and Gamecocks.

The Lumberjacks have lost five of six to start the season, most recently falling to UNLV, 110-71, on Tuesday at the Thomas & Mack Center. They currently have three players averaging double-figures in scoring, led by Jaleni Neely and his 12.3 ppg. Ako Kaluna is second on the team (11.8 ppg) and Mike Green is third (11.0 ppg).

Head-To-Head:

The Titans and Lumberjacks have on nine occasions all-time, but have not played each other since Dec. 6, 2003. Fullerton currently leads the series, 5-4. 

Last Meeting:

Cal State Fullerton scored an 82-67 victory over Northern Arizona on Dec. 6, 2003 at Titan Gym. The teams met twice that season, with the Lumberjacks winning 77-60 in Flagstaff on Nov. 21, 2003.

The Hornets have lost four straight games to open the 2016-17 season, the most recent coming at Kennesaw State on Tuesday, a 79-72 loss. Rodney Simeon leads the team with a 14.5 ppg average.

LAST TIME OUT - UNLV 77, CAL STATE FULLERTON 68

Senior Lionheart Leslie poured in a career-high 21 points and grabbed 10 rebounds but Cal State Fullerton could not overcome a season-high 17 turnovers in a 77-68 nonconference loss against UNLV on Saturday night at the Thomas and Mack Center.

Leslie was 5-for-11 from the field and made nine of his 12 free throw attempts on the night. His double-double was the first by a Titans player this season and was the second of his career. His 10 boards tied his career high, which he set against Hawai'i on Feb. 20, 2016.

Tre' Coggins added 17 points and five boards in 36 minutes for the Titans (2-2) while Jackson Rowe and Austen Awosika each had seven points.

For the Runnin' Rebels (2-1), they had five players score in double figures, led by Jalen Poyser's 14. Kris Clyburn added 13 and four rebounds while Jovan Mooring scored 12 off the bench.

LESLIE DOUBLES DOWN

Senior Lionheart Leslie's double-double at UNLV was the second of his career. He was also the first player to record a double-double this season for Cal State Fullerton with his 10 rebounds a new season high on the team. His first double-double came on Jan. 16 of this year against Hawai'i, when he dropped 17 points and 10 boards in an overtime game. Leslie also recorded a career-high 21 points at UNLV, his first career 20-point game.

COGGINS SCORCHING HOT

Redshirt senior Tre' Coggins has scored double figures in all three games he's played this season. He's hit at least three 3-pointers in each game including a career best eight against Portland State on Nov. 13. He has now logged 23 career games of scoring in double figures in two seasons at Cal State Fullerton. Coggins currently leads the Titans with a 23.7 points per game average, which is tops in the Big West Conference. He leads the nation in minutes per game, averaging 39 mpg. He logged a career high 47 minutes in the win over Portland State. Coggins also ranks second in the nation in 3-point field goals per game and is 15th in the country in total 3-point field goals made (17).

CARRYING THE LOAD

Along with Coggins leading the way in scoring, the Titans have four players averaging double figures through four games.

-Jackson Rowe: The freshman is currently second on the team with a 13.3 points per game average. He recorded double figures in his first three games before scoring seven on just four shots at UNLV.

-Lionheart Leslie scored 15 points combined in the first two games of the season but has recorded double figures in each of the last two outings, including a career-high 21 at UNLV. He's currently averaging 12.8 points a game and shooting 60.9 percent from the field.

-Kyle Allman is currently averaging 12.0 points a game through four games. He tallied double figures in the first two games of the season including a career-high 27 against Portland State on Nov. 13.

THE GLASS CEILING

Cal State Fullerton is currently fifth in the Big West Conference in rebounding, averaging 36.8 per game. In addition, the Titans have outrebounded opponents 33-25 on the offensive glass this season, including a 12-2 edge at UNLV on Nov. 19. 

BENCH MOB

Cal State Fullerton's bench has been superb through four games this season. The Titans have gotten at least 16 points from their reserves in all four games this year including 20 off the bench at UNLV. Fullerton currently has nine players averaging double-digit minutes so far this season.

HELPING HANDS

The Titans are averaging 15.8 assists per game, which ranks third in the Big West Conference. The loss at UNLV marked the first time in four games the Titans did not dish out double-digit assists. Overall, they've assisted on 55.2 percent of their baskets; recording 63 assists on 114 field goals.

ON DECK FOR THE TITANS

The Titans will return home following this weekend's tournament to host Nebraska-Omaha on Wednesday, Nov. 30 at Titan Gym. The Titans will be playing seven of their next nine games at home following the Global Sports Classic.
