LAST TIME OUT - CAL STATE FULLERTON 106, PORTLAND STATE 100 (2OT)

It took two overtimes, but Cal State Fullerton pulled off a huge second half comeback and outlasted Portland State, 106-100 in double overtime Sunday evening at Titan Gym.

Tre' Coggins led the way for the Titans (2-0) as he dropped 31 points, 28 of them in the second half and overtime periods. Kyle Allman set a new career high with 27 points on 8-for-15 shooting including a perfect 10-for-10 night at the charity stripe. Freshman Jackson Rowe added a career-high 18 points and flirted with a double-double, grabbing eight rebounds including seven on the offensive glass.

ALLMAN EARNS BIG WEST PLAYER OF THE WEEK NOD

Kyle Allman set a new career high with 27 points and was 10-for-10 from the free throw line in Sunday's 106-100 double OT win over Portland State. He hit a free-throw line jumper in double OT to give the Titans their first lead of the period at 96-94 and scored the final four points for Fullerton on free throws to seal the victory. He was 8-for-15 from the field and logged 41 minutes.

In two games this season, Allman has totaled 38 points (19.0 ppg) and is 3-for-5 on 3-pointers. He shot 57.9 percent from the field and made 13 of his 14 free throw attempts, helping the Titans start 2-0 for the first time since the 2011-12 season.

"TREY" COGGINS

Redshirt senior Tre' Coggins returned to action Sunday after missing Friday's game with a sore back. His eight 3-pointers are tied for the third most makes from beyond the arc, tying him with Josh Akognon (Feb. 21, 2009 vs. New Mexico State), Isiah Umipig (Nov. 11, 2011 vs. Redlands) and Sammy Yeager (Dec. 29, 2012 vs. UC Santa Barbara). Bobby Brown holds the record with 11 makes on Dec. 16, 2006 vs. Bethune-Cookman and Akognon drilled nine 3-pointers on March 11, 2009 vs. UC Riverside. Coggins also grabbed eight rebounds in Sunday's win, a new career best.

DOING THE DISHES

The Titans dished out 24 assists on 36 baskets on Nov. 13 against Portland State, the fourth most assists in a game in Titans history. The most came in 2012 when Fullerton dished out 30 helpers against Southern Utah. The Titans have had 25 assists on two occasions (2012, 2009). With 18 assists on 28 buckets in the season opener against Caltech, the Titans are averaging 21 helpers a game and have assists on 65.6 percent of their baskets.

CENTURY CITY ALL STARS

Fullerton eclipsed the 100-point mark against Portland State on Nov. 13 in a 106-100 win, marking the first time they did so since dropping 105 at CSUN on Jan. 5, 2013. It was also the first time the Titans allowed more than 100 points since CSUN scored 112 on Feb. 13, 2010.

FIRST IMPRESSIONS

The Titans had five freshman make their NCAA debuts on opening weekend and each left their mark in various ways.

Jackson Rowe: Started both games for Fullerton and dropped 18 points, eight rebounds and three assists in Sunday's double overtime win, logging 43 minutes of action. In two games, he's averaging 15 points a game and shooting 12-for-15 (.800) from the field.

Dwight Ramos: Led all Fullerton scorers with 15 points, going 6-for-12 from the field in win over Caltech on Nov. 11.

Davon Clare: Currently leads the team with five blocked shots including three in Sunday's win over Portland State and is averaging 26.5 minutes a game.

Austen Awosika: Leads the team with four steals in two games including three in season opener against Caltech.

Jamal Smith: The redshirt freshman tied for the team lead with seven rebounds in opening night win over Caltech as he drew the start in the backcourt. He is also currently averaging 21 minutes per game.

#STARTBIG

The Titans are 2-0 for the first time since the 2011-12 season when they began the year 3-0, a mark they will try to reach on Thursday night when they face Washington. Fullerton is also the only team that finished the opening weekend of basketball undefeated. In addition, Friday night's 49-point victory over Caltech was Fullerton's third largest win in a regular season and home opener in school history. The Titans defeated Cal Maritime 108-56 in the 2006-07 season opener and, more recently, beat Redlands 118-68 in 2012-13, the last time the Titans opened the regular season at home. It was also the 13th straight victory for Fullerton in a regular season home opener.
