Lorenzen Accepts USA Baseball Invitation

June 15, 2011

Fullerton, Calif. - Freshman All-American Michael Lorenzen has accepted an invitation to join the 2011 USA Baseball Collegiate National Team for its summer schedule which begins on June 21 in conjunction with franchises in the New England Collegiate Baseball League.

He has been named an alternate for players participating in the College World Series in Omaha, Nebraska. USA Baseball will continue to make roster decisions through the end of June.

The Anaheim native was named the Big West Conference's Freshman Player of the Year and was an All-Big West second team selection after batting a team-leading .342 with 2 home runs and 31 RBI in 2011. He finished with the team's third-best on-base percentage (.427) and stole 19 bases. The rookie also provided numerous sparking defensive plays in both right and centerfield and helped lead the Titans to a 41-17 overall record and a conference championship with a 19-5 mark in league play.

Lorenzen is no stranger to USA Baseball, having played on last summer's 18U National Team. In 21 games, the outfielder hit .346 (27-for-78) with a home run and 16 RBI en route to the team's 19-2 overall record and a tournament-best 7-1 finish in the 2010 World Championships in Thunder Bay, Canada.

Lorenzen is Fullerton's 20th Collegiate National Team member.

The Fullerton is a major supplier to USA baseball and has supplied three US National Team members, a Collegiate National Team coach and five Olympians since 1984.
