COVINA H.S.: Was a three-year letterman at
Covina H.S. (Calif.), where he pitched and played shortstop for
Coaches Charlie Beal and Ryan Merrill Cleaned up his senior
year, when he garnered Co-Valley Vista League MVP honors in
addition to first-team All-San Gabriel Valley and first-team
All-CIF honors Batted .421 with six homers and 21 RBI while
posting a 6-1 record and 2.54 ERA on the mound Helped Covina
to a 19-5 record, a league championship and a CIF quarterfinal
appearance Received a first-team all-league selection as a
