Former Titan player Chris Jones will get his feet wet at the Div. I level as an undergraduate assistant coach on Rick Vanderhook's staff in 2012.

Jones, 26, returns to Fullerton following a successful stint as an assistant coach under CIF Coach of the Year Chris Ashbach at Mission Viejo High School in 2011. There he was part of a staff that guided the Diablos - including current Titans Willie Kuhl and Austin Saenz - to the CIF Southern Section championship at Dodger Stadium.

Jones spent two seasons out of baseball from 2009 to 2010, working as a private investigator for Homeland Security.

Jones was a redshirt for the Titans in 2006, and logged playing time for both George Horton's team in 2007 and Dave Serrano's squad in 2008. The right-handed hitting outfielder was a career .257 hitter for the Titans over 67 career games and posted his best numbers (.272, 49 H, 1 HR, 33 RBI and 7 SB) as a junior in 2007.

That season, the Titans advanced to the College World Series, where Jones started both games as the team's designated hitter. He notched his only hit (a double) in Omaha in the longest game in College World Series history (5:40) versus UC Irvine.

Jones transferred to Cal State Fullerton after his freshman season at Texas A&M. In College Station, Jones was a pitcher for Head Coach Mark Johnson. He had no decisions with an ERA of 2.35 over 7.2 innings.

Jones was one of Baseball America's top 100 high school prospects out of Mission Viejo High School in 2004. He was a high school All-American and was the South Coast League's most valuable player that same year.

He resides in San Clemente, Calif., and will be graduating with a degree in criminal justice in the spring.

Jones is engaged to his fiancé Cristina White and plans to marry in July 2012.
