Eight Titans Earn Big West Honors

FULLERTON, Calif. – Eight members of the Cal State Fullerton baseball team earned Big West All-Conference honors, the league office announced Thursday. 

Nate Nankil headlined the group as the only Titan to be selected to the All-Big West First Team. Nankil ranked third on the team with a .307 batting average to go along with 37 runs and 38 RBI. The junior had a .453 slugging percentage and .374 on-base percentage. 

Caden Connor and Jojo Ingrassia both earned All-Big West Second Team honors. Connor led the team with a .333 batting average which ranked 10th in the The Big West with 36 runs and 40 RBI which ranked second on the Titans. 

Ingrassia quickly became the Titans closer in his first season at Cal State Fullerton. Ingrassia finished the season with a 2.63 ERA and 5-2 record in 41 innings pitched. Ingrassia recorded a team-high seven saves which ranked tied for fourth in the conference. 

Fynn Chester, Zach Lew, Tyler Stultz, Cole Urman and Evan Yates all earned Big West Honorable Mention. 

Chester finished the season with a 7-3 record, one save and 4.21 ERA in 57.2 innings pitched. Chester issued just six walks all season, a conference best while his seven wins tied for second in the Big West. The senior allowed just 0.94 walks per nine innings, ranking fifth in the country. 

In his fifth year with the program, Lew led the team with 43 runs and 43 RBI. Lew finished the regular season with a .279 batting average while recording 13 doubles, two triples and a team-high seven home runs. Lew's seven home runs nearly doubles his career total of four from his previous four seasons. 

Stultz wrapped up the 2023 regular season with a 7-4 record, equaling Chester to finish with the second most wins in the Big West. Stultz had a 4.53 ERA on the year in 15 starts and recorded a team-high 90 strikeouts in 89.1 innings pitched. 

Urman earned Big West Honorable Mention for the second time in his collegiate career. Urman hit .269 on the year with 26 runs and 29 RBI, both of which are career-highs. The junior was a staple of consistency behind the plate for Fullerton, playing in 46 games while starting 44 of them. 

Yates garnered his first Big West accolade after taking a big step on the mound in his second season. Yates had a 2-2 record on the year with a 3.57 ERA in 15 appearances and 14 starts. Yates struckout 63 batters in 68 innings pitched this season. 

Cal State Fullerton plays game one of the NCAA Tournament Friday night against Texas A&M at 7:00 p.m. on ESPN 2.
