Titans Drop Series-Opener to Long Beach State

FULLERTON, Calif. – Cal State Fullerton dropped the series-opener to Long Beach State Friday night at Goodwin Field by a final score of 2-1. The Titans fall to 28-20 on the year and 17-8 in Big West play. 

The Titans jumped out to an early lead on a solo home run by Caden Connor in the first inning, his fourth of the season. The junior leads the team with a .330 batting average and 37 RBI. 

Long Beach State tied the game in the fourth inning on a solo home run by Cole Santander.

Tyler Stultz had a quality start for the Titans, allowing just one earned run on seven hits in seven innings pitched. Stultz walked just two batters and struck out a season-high 10. 

The Dirtbags took the lead in the eighth inning on an RBI double by Santander to go up 2-1. 

Jonathan Carlos earned the win for Long Beach State to improve to 2-0 on the year. Jojo Ingrassia drew the loss after allowing the go-ahead run to drop to 5-2 this year. 

Fullerton looks to even the series with Long Beach State in game two Saturday evening at Goodwin Field. First pitch is set for 5:00 p.m. PT.
