Titans Score 11 Unanswered Runs to Defeat UC Davis, 11-2

DAVIS, Calif. – After falling behind by two runs in the bottom of the first inning, Cal State Fullerton went on to score 11 unanswered runs to defeat UC Davis 11-2 Friday afternoon at Dobbins Stadium.

With the win the Titans improve to 9-8 on the year and 3-1 in Big West Conference play.

Tyler Stultz may not have had a shutout performance like he did a week ago. However, after giving up two runs in the first inning Stultz shutout the Aggies for the next seven innings as he went on to pitch a season-high eight innings. Senior allowed two earned runs on eight hits while walking just one and striking out five.

Fullerton immediately responded to UC Davis, scoring four runs in the top half of the second inning. After giving up a run, the Titans have responded with at least one run in the next half inning 20 times this season for a total of 41 runs.

Following Nate Nankil's leadoff double, Brendan Bobo crushed a two-run home run to right field to tie the game at 2-2. For Bobo, it is his team-leading fourth home run of the season. With two outs, Maddox Latta hit his first Division 1 home run to give the Titans a 4-2 lead.

The Titans added to their lead in the third inning on an RBI double down the left field line by Cole Urman to drive in Nankil and extend the lead to 5-2.

In the fourth inning, it was Zach Lew's turn. Lew doubled off the wall in center field to bring home Carter White and give the Titans a 6-2 advantage.

Fullerton put up another four spot in the sixth inning to take a commanding 10-2 lead. With the bases loaded, Lew drew a walk to bring in Colby Wallace for his second RBI of the game. One batter later, Caden Connor hit a sacrifice fly to right field to score Latta.

With two outs in the inning, Nankil came through with a single to center field to score White and Lew. The Titans added one more run of insurance in the eighth inning on a double by Nankil to score Connor from second base. Nankil had possibly his best game of the season, recording a career-high four hits with three RBI and tying a career-high with two runs.

The Titans return to diamond Saturday afternoon looking to secure the series win over UC Davis. First pitch is scheduled for 1:00 p.m. PT
