Titans Secure Series Over LMU

FULLERTON, Calif. - The Cal State Fullerton Titans baseball team won their first series of the season as they defeated LMU in the rubber game on Sunday at Goodwin Field, 9-5.

Zach Lew had a career-high 6 RBI's for the game as he went 3-for-5 at the dish. 

The Titans pounded out 13 hits with Caden Connor, Jason Brandow, Nate Nankil, and JT Navyac having multi-hit days. 

The Titans pitching staff utilized five pitchers for the game with Timoty Josten getting the start.   Peyton Jones and Michael Weisberg were the most effective relievers as they each pitched two scoreless innings. 

The Titans led for almost the entire game as they scored 3 runs in the first.  With bases loaded, Zach Lew singled up the middle for his first two RBIs of the day.  Cole Urman had a sac fly to bring in the 3rd run of the inning.

The Lions would tie the game up at 3-3 after scoring one in the third and two in the fourth.

However, the Titans went ahead in the fifth inning when Zach Lew singled in Jason Brandow for his third RBI of the day.

The Titans would go on to put up four runs in the next inning.  Nate Nankil, J.T. Navyac and Jack Haley led the inning off with three straight hits. Nankil scored on Haley's single.  Caden Connor scored Navyac on a sac fly.  Zach Lew doubled to right field to bring in two more runs.

In the eighth inning, Zach Lew had his 6th and final RBI as he had a productive groundout to make it a 9-3 game. 

The Lions would add two in the 9th inning but the Titans were able to hang on to the win and the series victory over LMU.  

The Titans have a midweek game on Tuesday at San Diego at 6:00 PM before starting Big West Conference Play next weekend at UC Santa Barbara.
