FULLERTON, Calif. – Cal State Fullerton (19-29, 12-17) dropped game one of the series to Long Beach State (22-14, 20-13) by a final score of 9-1 Friday night at Goodwin Field
Jason Brandow got the Titans on the board in the bottom of the seventh inning with a solo home run to right field, his third of the season. Brandow has a team-high 23 RBI on the season following his home run.
Ryan Hare started the game on the mound for Fullerton and gave up three runs on two hits in five innings pitched. Hare picked up the loss and is now 0-5 this season.
Jonathan Lavallee earned the win for Long Beach State to improve to 7-1 on the year. Lavallee pitched six innings, giving up one run and five hits. Matt Fields earned his third save of the season after pitching the final three innings of the game.
The Titans are back on the diamond against Long Beach Saturday afternoon for a doubleheader beginning at 12:00 p.m. PT.
