Fullerton Falls to No. 17 Stanford in Game Three

STANFORD, Calif. – In the final game of the three game series, Cal State Fullerton fell to No. 17 Stanford by a score of 2-1 Sunday afternoon at Sunken Diamond. The Titans took two out of three games in the opening series. 

Both of Stanford's runs were unearned, coming after fielding errors by the Titans. Joe Magrisi gave Fullerton a great start on the mound, pitching six innings while giving up just two hits and walking one batter with five strikeouts and allowing just two unearned runs.

The Titans had a great weekend pitching, allowing just four runs in three games and only giving up two earned runs. The three Titan starters combined for 19 innings pitched, giving up just two earned runs all weekend. Fullerton used just three relievers combined for nine innings pitched while not allowing a single run. 

Throughout the series Fullerton outscored Stanford by a total of 14 to four. The Titans recorded a total of 30 hits in three games including 18 in Saturday's game. 

In his first collegiate at-bat Caden Connor recorded an RBI single to right field, driving in Jason Brandow from second base.  

Tim Tawa and Nick Brueser recorded Stanford's two RBI on the day. Brueser scored the Cardinal first run while Brueser's RBI scored Nick Bellafronto. Alex Williams started the game on the mound for Stanford and pitched seven innings, giving up five hits and one earned run. 

The Titans return to action Tuesday night as the team travels south to take on San Diego State. First pitch is slated for 6:00 p.m. PT.
