Chapman Competes in MLB Home Run Derby and All-Star Game

CLEVELAND – Former Titan Matt Chapman competed in Monday's MLB Home Run Derby prior to appearing in his first MLB All-Star game Tuesday night on FOX. 

Chapman had his father, Jim Chapman, throw to him in the T-Mobile Home Run Derby where he hit 13 bombs. Chapman unfortunately lost in the first round to Vladamir Guerrero Jr. in the who hit 29 home runs. 

The 26-year-old then competed in the all-star game Tuesday night, drawing a walk in his only plate appearance before scoring a run, adding to the American League All-Star Team's lead in the seventh inning. 

So far in 2019 Chapman is batting .265 with a .353 on-base percentage and a .534 slugging to go along with 52 RBI and 21 home runs. His 21 home runs ranks 14th in the MLB. At the break, Chapman has 46 extra base hits which is the most for the Oakland A's franchise since 1997.
