BALTIMORE – Former Cal State Fullerton pitcher Thomas Eshelman becomes the 67th Titan to make it to the MLB as was called up by the Baltimore Orioles Monday. Eshelman is likely to make his first start in the big league's Monday against the Tampa Bay Rays.

Baltimore acquired the 25-year-old Eshelman from the Phillies back on June 10 in exchange for international bonus allocations. In 20 innings since being acquired by Baltimore, Eshelman has a 4.05 ERA with 11 strikeouts and six walks. Eshelman was originally drafted by the Astros when Mike Elias, now the Orioles' general manager, was the scouting director in Houston. In all, the righty has pitched to a 4.46 ERA with 7.2 strikeouts per nine innings against 2.0 walks per nine innings in 74.2 minor league innings this season.

As a Titan, Eshelman posted a staggering 27.7 to 1 strikeout-to-walk ratio in 2013, setting a new Titans record. He also allowed a miniscule 0.23 walks-per nine innings, setting both a new Titans and NCAA record. Eshelman holds not only the NCAA single season record at 0.23, but also the career record at 0.43.

After setting the single-season record as a freshman, he received seven All-American awards and three freshman pitcher of the year awards. Over his three years as a Titan, Eshelman racked up 14 All-American awards.

Eshelman holds the all-time program record for lowest ERA (1.65) and strikeout to walk ratio (17.8). In three years the righty only walked a staggering 18 batters. Additionally, Eshelman ranks fourth all-time in games started (50), innings pitched (376.1) and lowest opponent batting average (2.12).
