FULLERTON, Calif.  – Chad Baum, who had been an assistant coach for the Cal State Fullerton baseball program for 13 years over two stints, has been named the head baseball coach at Fullerton College. 

"Chad Baum embodies what it means to be a Titan and he's helped carry on a proud tradition of great baseball here at Cal State Fullerton," said Head Coach Rick Vanderhook. "FJC (Fullerton College) made a great hire. They are getting an extremely hard worker, a great recruiter and someone who really knows the game of baseball."

Baum served as an assistant coach at Cal State Fullerton for 13 season from 2000-04 before returning in 2012. Baum has the fourth longest tenure as a Titan behind the legendary Augie Garrido, George Horton and current Head Coach Rick Vanderhook.

"I want to thank Cal State Fullerton and the entire Titan Baseball Family for allowing me to be a part of the program for 15 great years," Baum said. "I want to personally thank Athletics Director Jim Donovan, Senior Associate Athletics Director Steve DiTolla and the entire Fullerton Administration for their great leadership and support they gave me and the Titan baseball program. Coach Vanderhook has not only been my boss the last eight seasons, he has been like family to me and my wife and kids. I cannot thank him enough for mentoring me and helping me become a better coach, recruiter and person. I look forward to this new opportunity to be the Head Baseball Coach of Fullerton College. I will greatly miss everyone that is involved in the program from the players to the boosters and especially the greatest fans in college baseball."

During Baum's time at Cal State Fullerton as an assistant coach and recruiting coordinator, the Titans made 12 NCAA Regional appearances and seven Super Regionals with five trips to the College World Series and a National Championship in 2004. 

In addition to serving as an assistant coach at Cal State Fullerton, Baum played for the Titans for two seasons in 1998 and 1999.
