The Titans also went 1-2 in regional play in 1997, falling to Santa Clara (5-0), then defeating Northeastern (8-4) and being eliminated by Fresno State (8-7). Fullerton won the Stanford Regional Championship a year ago, sweeping the field. The Titans took down BYU (W, 13-2) in the opening game, and then defeated host Stanford in two straight games (W, 4-1, W, 4-2) to advance to the Super Regional round.

The Titans face the Baylor Bears on Friday. They earned an automatic bid out of the Big 12 Conference, after running the table to win the conference tournament, defeating TCU 6-5 in the title game. Baylor finished 36-19 on the season, while going 13-11 in conference play.

Wright State (39-15), which enters the NCAA Tournament on a eight-game winning streak, earned the Horizon League's automatic bid to the NCAA regionals by winning the Horizon League Tournament on Saturday afternoon. The Raiders went 3-0 in the conference tournament in Mesa, Ariz., defeating Youngstown State (W, 11-1) and UIC twice (W, 10-1, W 11-9)

Wright State will be making its sixth NCAA appearance since 2006.

Fullerton will make its 40th NCAA Tournament appearance in 2018 in 44 seasons at the NCAA Division I level. It is the Titans 27th straight postseason berth, the third longest active streak behind Florida State (41).

The Titans have won 22 Regional Titles, including a national best 12 on the road (two each in Fresno and Baton Rouge and one each at USC, Austin, Starkville, Stillwater, South Bend, Tempe, San Diego and Stanford). Prior to 2000, the Titans had never hosted a regional.

The Titans have never gone winless in regional play, the only program with 38-plus appearances (eight programs total) to do so. They have gone 0-2 only twice in a Super Regional (2008 & 2013) and seven times in Omaha (1975, 1982, 1990, 2007, 2009, 2015, and 2017).
