Titans Win Sixth Straight and Sweep Another Series

DAVIS, Calif.- Junior Andrew Quezada tossed his second career complete game shutout and Daniel Cope notched a career-high equaling four RBI, as the Titans cruised to a 5-0 victory over UC Davis to clinch the series sweep Sunday afternoon out at Dobbins Stadium.

Fullerton (25-20, 12-3 Big West) has now won a season-high equaling six consecutive games and have earned consecutive shutout victories for the first time since May 1 and May 2, 2015 at UC Riverside. The Titans have swept back-to-back three-game series for the first time since 2015.

The Titans have also now won six straight conference contests for the first time since 2016.

Quezada (W, 3-4) notched his sixth quality start of the season, as he went the distance without surrendering a run, while only giving up four hits. He walked two and struck out three.

Eight of nine Titan starters recorded at least one hit in the game.

Cope was 2-for-4 from the plate while notching his team-leading fifth home run. He scored a run and drove in four. Mitchell Berryhill notched his team-leading sixth three-hit game.

Ruben Cardenas racked a knock and a hit to extend his hit streak to eight, while Hank LoForte went 2-for-5 from the dish and scored two runs to extend his incredible on-base streak to 29 games. He also owns a six-game hit streak and his picked up knocks in 26 of his last 29 games.

Zach Weisz contributed with a knock and a run scored, while Brett Borgogno produced an RBI and a hit

Fullerton struck first for the third time in the series, as Weller got things started with a one out single through the left side. Berryhill then followed suit with a rocket through the left side as well. Then Borgogno ripped a double past the diving first baseman to score Weller and put the Titans in front 1-0.

The Titans tacked on another in the fifth, as LoForte came through with a one out base knock up the middle. Cardenas then drew a two out walk to put runners at first and second, then it was Cope coming through with the first of his four RBI, as he came through with a two-out single to left center to score LoForte and the Titans in front 2-0.

The Titans' then came through with the knockout blow in the seventh. Weisz singled through the left side and then LoForte produced a perfect bunt single to put runners at first and second with no one out. Then Cope came through with another two-out RBI. This time it was a monster three-run shot to left field to give the Titans a dominating 5-0 advantage.

The final score would hold, as the Titans earned their second straight shutout victory.

Fullerton now returns home and continues Big West play with UC Riverside, beginning Friday at 7 pm PT.
