MIAMI – Major League Baseball announced the replacements for players unable to participate in the 88th Midsummer Classic and former Titan pitcher and current Houston Astro, Chris Devenski, has been chosen to join the American League team in Miami.
Devenski now becomes the eighth different Titan alum to be selected to an All-Star team joining Justin Turner in this year's game.
The right-handed reliever has been turning heads coming out of the Astros' bullpen this year sporting a 2.09 ERA and 0.77 WHIP in 34 games. More notably, he leads all MLB relief pitchers in strikeouts at 72 in just 51.2 innings. Devenski has been the best reliever for Houston and has helped secure their spot at the top of the American League.
Devenski spent one season with the Titans in 2011 before being drafted by the White Sox in the 25th round. At Fullerton, he threw 21.2 innings and had a 4.98 ERA with 26 strikeouts.
The 88th MLB All-Star Game will be aired live July 11 at 4:30pm on FOX.
