Fullerton Falls in Final Non-Conference Game of Regular Season on Monday

FULLERTON, Calif.--- Freshman catcher Daniel Cope recorded his first career home run and four-hit night, while four Titans in all collected double digit hits, but it wasn't enough as Fullerton fell to Saint Mary's 12-4, Monday night at Goodwin Field.

 

Cope recorded his best game as a  Titan, going 4-of-5 from the plate, while Scott Hurst went 3-of-4 from the dish with a run scored and a walk. Dillon Persinger led the team with two RBI and a home run, while going 2-of-4 at the dish with a run scored.

 

Sahd Valenzuela picked up two hits five at bats.

 

Joe Wills (4-2) made the start for Fullerton and took the loss, while Ty Madrigal (5-3) earned the win for Saint Mary's.

 

The Gaels took the lead in the second, as Edward Haus blasted a lead of home run to left center. Saint Mary's then got two more home runs in the third inning by Brett Rasso and Zach Kirtley in the third to help build s 4-0 advantage.

 

However, the Titans battled back to make it game again in their half of the third, was Tristan Hildebrandt led off with a walk, while Hurst and Valenzuela then followed with back-to-back one-out singles to load up the bases. Persinger drove in Hildebrandt from third base with a sacrifice fly to make it 4-1. Then Zach Weller was hit by a pitch, to walk in a run and make it a 4-2 ballgame.

 

The Titans wouldn't get any closer, as the Gaels put up three more in the fourth, two in the seventh and three in the eighth. Cope blasted a leadoff home run in the bottom of the sixth, while Persinger blasted one over the left field fence to give the Titans four runs on the night.

 

Fullerton will get back to conference play this weekend, as it'll take on CSUN in a three-game weekend series in Northridge.
