HONOLULU--- Scott Hurst had another great night, going 2-of-3 at the dish, but it wasn't enough as Fullerton fell to Hawaii by the final of 4-1 on Saturday night at Les Murakami Stadium.

 

The Titans (27-16, 9-5 Big West) will go for the series win tomorrow at 4:05 pm PT.

 

John Gavin (5-2) put together a great start with the exception of the fourth inning, where he gave up four runs on four hits in the frame. Overall he went 6.0 innings, surrendered six hits, four earned runs and walked one while taking the loss.

 

Hurst has gone 6-of-7 from the plate with two walks in the series. Sahid Valenzuela drove in Fullerton's lone run of the game, going 1-of-4 from the plate. Dillon Persinger recorded his ninth multi-hit game of the season, going 2-of-4 at the dish. 

 

Jake Pavletich also picked up a knock on the night.

 

Jack Pabich was solid in relief, as he pitched 2.0 shutout innings, while recording two strikeouts.

 

It took four innings, but the Titans drew first blood in the fifth, as Prescott and Hurst drew back-to-back one out walks, before Valenzuela laced a single to center field to score Prescott and put Fullerton on top 1-0.

 

However, then it was Hawaii's turn, as it dropped a four-spot in its half of the fifth on four hits, including two doubles and a home run. Chayce Ka'aua led the inning off with a single, while Josh Rojas then double to right. Dylan Vchulek and Johnny Weeks then delivered a double and a home run respectively to each drive in two runs. Both hits came with two out.

 

The score would stand at 4-1 for the remainder of the game.

 

Jackson Rees (5-0) picked up the win for Hawaii (25-16, 7-7 Big West) tossing 8.0 innings, while scattering five hits, while surrendering one run and walking two.
