FULLERTON, Calif. – Cal State Fullerton freshman right-handed pitcher Colton Eastman continues to pile on the postseason honors as he was selected to the 2016 D1Baseball Freshman All-American First Team it was announced on Wednesday.
Eastman was the only Big West Conference representative as he earned his fourth selection to a postseason All-American Team after collecting Baseball America Freshman All-American First Team honors, Louisville Slugger Freshman Pitcher of the Year accolades and a selection to the NCBWA Freshman All-America First Team last month.
In his rookie campaign, the Fresno, Calif., native tied Cal State Fullerton's freshman record for strikeouts in a season which was set by former Titan Noe Ramirez in 2009 as Eastman fanned 100 batters in 100.2 innings of work. Eastman made 16 appearances including 15 starts en route to compiling an 8-3 record and a 2.24 ERA, while limiting opponents to a .218 batting average.
Eastman was even more dominant in Big West Conference play as he went undefeated in seven straight starts posting a 4-0 record with a 2.28 ERA. He allowed just 12 earned runs in 47.1 innings pitched and struck out 48 batters against 11 walks, while holding his counterparts to a .220 clip.
