INDIANAPOLIS – No. 21 Cal State Fullerton will travel to the Starkville Regional hosted by Mississippi State for the 70th annual NCAA Division I Baseball Championship, it was announced by the Division I Baseball Committee on Monday.

The No. 2 seed in the four-team Regional, the Titans will take on No. 3 seed Louisiana Tech of Conference USA, Friday at 11:30 a.m. PT (1:30 p.m. CT). The game will be broadcast on ESPN3. The Regional's No. 1 seed, Mississippi State, will face No. 4 seed Southeast Missouri State in the second game of the day with the game scheduled at 4:30 p.m. PT (6:30 p.m. CT).

The host Bulldogs earned the No. 6 National Seed in the 2016 NCAA Tournament after winning the Southeastern Conference's regular season title. The Starkville Regional is paired with the Lafayette Regional hosted by the University of Louisiana, Lafayette, which features the host Ragin' Cajuns, Arizona, Sam Houston State and Princeton.

It will be the second time the Titans play a regional in Starkville. The 1988 Fullerton squad swept through the Starkville Regional, defeating Missouri (6-3), Mississippi State twice (5-1; 5-3 in 12 innings) and Texas A&M (6-3) en route to the NCAA College World Series. The Titans won their first two games in Omaha before falling to Stanford twice.

The Titans face Louisiana Tech on Friday, a team which lost to Rice, 11-9, on Saturday in the semifinals of the Conference USA Tournament. The Bulldogs closed out the season with a 40-18 overall record with nine wins over Top-25 ranked teams this season.

The Southeast Missouri State Redhawks advanced to their third ever NCAA Tournament and first since 2002 after winning the Ohio Valley Conference Tournament with back-to-back wins over Jacksonville State in the championship round on Sunday.

The national top eight seeds are Florida (47-13), Louisville (47-12), Miami [FL] (45-11), Texas A&M (45-14), Texas Tech (41-16), Mississippi State (41-16-1), Clemson (42-18) and LSU (42-18).

Fullerton will make its 38th NCAA Tournament appearance in 2016 in 42 seasons at the NCAA Division I level. It is the Titans 25th straight postseason berth, the third longest active streak behind Miami (FL. – 44) and Florida State (39).

The Titans have won 21 Regional Titles, including a national best 11 on the road (two each in Fresno and Baton Rouge and one each at USC, Austin, Starkville, Stillwater, South Bend, Tempe and San Diego). Prior to 2000, the Titans had never hosted a regional.

The Titans have never gone winless in regional play, the only program with 37-plus appearances (eight programs total) to do so. They have gone 0-2 only twice in a Super Regional (2008 & 2013) and six times in Omaha (1975, 1982, 1990, 2007, 2009 and 2015).

Cal State Fullerton's all-time NCAA record is 151-81 (.651) including Regional (99-41, .707); Super Regional (18-11, .620) play and 34-29 (.540) in Omaha.
