Titans to Play Hawai’i Twice on ESPNU

FULLERTON, Calif. – Cal State Fullerton will host two televised games on ESPNU this season against Hawai'i in late April, ESPN announced with the release of its 2014 college baseball television schedule on Thursday.

ESPNU will broadcast the final two games of the Titans three-game series against Hawai'i at Goodwin Field on Saturday, April 26 at 5 p.m. (PDT) and Sunday, April 27 at 7:30 p.m. Each game will also be available through WatchESPN, accessible online at WatchESPN.com or via the WatchESPN app via smartphones and tablets.

Last season, the Titans took two of three games from Hawai'i in Honolulu. They dropped the opener in a tight 4-3 contest but followed it up with a pair of shutouts, outscoring Hawai'i 8-0 in the final two games. The Titans would use those two victories to spark a seven-game winning streak and a stretch where they won 14 of their last 15 regular season games.

The two televised games on ESPNU match Cal State Fullerton's 2013 regular-season total when their May 4 contest against Long Beach State and May 17 game with UC Irvine were broadcast on the network, both Titans home victories. The team's three games at the Fullerton Regionals were also televised by ESPNU while their Super Regional series against UCLA was broadcast on ESPN2.

ESPN's 2014 broadcast schedule will include more than 200 exclusive regular-season and conference championship games across ESPN, ESPN2, ESPNU, ESPN3, and ESPNEWS, breaking the previous record of 151 broadcasts set last season.

The Titans were selected as the No. 1 team in the nation in three of the five preseason polls (USA Today Coaches, Collegiate Baseball, National College Baseball Writers Association) to go along with a No. 2 ranking in the Perfect Game Preseason College Top 25 poll and a No. 4 slot in Baseball America's preseason poll.

Cal State Fullerton was also picked to win their fifth consecutive Big West Conference title in the conference's preseason coaches' poll. The Titans garnered eight of nine first-place votes.

In 2013, the Titans finished with a 51-10 (.836) overall record, the second-best winning percentage in program history. Their 51 victories also tied for fourth in Titans history and were the most wins for Cal State Fullerton since 1995 (57).

Fullerton captured the 2013 conference title thanks to a 23-4 record, six games ahead of second-place Cal Poly. The Titans 23 conference victories were the most since 1999, when Fullerton went 25-5.

Their .851 winning percentage in the conference was the best for the Titans since the 2010 squad finished the year 21-3 for an .875 mark. It was also the best in the Big West since 2009 when UC Irvine finished the year with a .917 winning percentage after scoring 22 victories in their 24 conference games.

The Titans return 18 players to the 2014 squad and a freshman class that was ranked as the No. 7 recruiting class by Collegiate Baseball and No. 12 by Baseball America.

The Titans open the season on Feb. 14 against Washington State at Goodwin Field.
