FULLERTON, Calif. — Cal State Fullerton's men's and women's cross country hosted its annual Open 5K and PRs and Pancakes event on Saturday, August 26 on the CSUF campus. Players were accompanied by coaches, friends, family and alumni to help make the fundraiser a success.
The event began at 8:00 a.m. at the Titan Track with an Open 5K. Soon after, guests were invited to the Titan Pavilion for a pancake breakfast along with beverages. They were encouraged to begin bidding on silent auction items including a pickleball set and a Malibu wine tour. When the silent auction closed, the program began and keynote speaker Mark Covert, Titans cross country/track & field alumnus and former national champion, shared some of his stories over the years.
The Titans were able to raise $25,175, which is 125% of their goal of $20,000. It's not too late to help them reach even higher, providing for their travel costs, nutrition, gear, and more. Donations can be made here.
"This was a record-breaking fundraiser for cross country. We hope everyone had as much fun as we did. I'm happy to see so much support for this program. They work hard and deserve it. A special thank you to Mark Covert and all the alumni for sponsoring our current student-athletes," head coach Marques Barosso said.
The cross country team was delighted with the outcome of their event and can't wait to see what accomplishments the upcoming season will bring for them.
