IRVINE, Calif. — Alexis Garcia has been named The Big West Men's Cross Country Athlete of the Week, the conference announced Tuesday.
The Costa Mesa, California, native ran a 24:06.9 in the men's 8K race Friday at the Bill Dellinger Invitational, finishing in 18th place overall. Garcia's result led the Titans' men's cross country team to a sixth-place finish at the event.
Garcia's time was the second fastest of his career in an 8K contest. He ran a personal-best 23:58.6 last season at the Big West Cross Country Championships.
Garcia and the Titans return to action at the Highlander Invitational on Saturday, October 15th. The event will take place at the UCR Agricultural Operations Course in Riverside.
