Cross Country Wins Both Races at Mark Covert Classic

RESULTS MEN | RESULTS WOMEN

BREA, Calif. - The 2022 Cal State Fullerton Cross Country team had their first meet of the season and both the men and women won their races at the Mark Covert Classic at Carbon Canyon Regional Park.  

The men's team won the 8K race with a score of 29 points.  Alexis Garcia led the Titans with a second place finish and a time of 25:03.  Andrew Castellon came in fourth place with a time of 25:23 and Talman Young came in fifth place with a time of 25:23. Nathaniel Avila came in ninth place with a time of 25:37 and Vicente Huerta came in twelfth place with a time of 25:40 to round out the top five finishes.  JT McCoy (25:45 / 14th place) and Jeremiah Castellano (25:46 / 15th place) also finished in the top seven for the Titans.

The women's team dominated the 5K course with a score of 24 points.  McKaylie Caesar came in first place by ten seconds with a time of 17:29.  Dana McGrath came in fifth place with a time of 18:36, Eva Rethmeier came in sixth place with a time of 18:41, Amy Brown came in seventh place with a time of 18:50, and Unique Ford came in ninth place with a time of 18:59 to round out the top five finishers.  Olivia Ruiz (10th place / 19:01) and Ashlynn Viramontes (12th place / 19:09) rounded out the top seven places for the Titans.  

The Titans will next compete at the UCR Invitational on September 17th at the UCR Agricultural Operations Course.
