FULLERTON, Calif. - Cal State Fullerton senior Sam Ayala was named Big West Conference Men's Cross Country Athlete of the Week. The league announced the honorees on Tuesday. This is the second weekly honor of the season for Ayala as he previously won the honor on Sept. 7.

Ayala led the way for Cal State Fullerton at the Dellinger Invitational with a time of 23:43.7 in the 8,000-meter race to take 28th place overall, first among Big West competition. As a team, Cal State Fullerton finished 10th.

Next time out, Ayala and his fellow Titans will compete in the Highlander Classic on Oct. 16 in Riverside, Calif.
