Bathgate Wins CSUSB Invite, Earns Weekly Honor

IRVINE, Calif. - Cal State Fullerton junior Katie Bathgate won the individual title at the CSUSB Invite and claimed Big West Women's Cross Country Athlete of the Week honors, it was announced by the league office on Tuesday.

The Bloomington, Calif. native, running in her first 6K event this season, completed the course in a time of 22:30.9 at the San Bernardino County Sheriff's Training Academy.  It was the first first-place finish of her career, and she helped the Titans to the team title as well. 

The Titans finished ahead of Cal Poly Pomona, Cal State San Bernardino and UC San Diego as four of their athletes placed in the top-six.  CSF recorded its first first-place finish since winning the Northridge Invite on Oct. 16, 2009.
Bathgate is the first Titan to earn weekly honors this season.

Cal State Fullerton returns to action on Friday, participating in the Inter-Region Jamboree hosted by Sacramento State.
