FULLERTON, Calif. — Cal State Fullerton men's track and field tallied nine qualifiers to the NCAA West Preliminary meet, the NCAA announced Thursday.
A trio of Titan 110m hurdlers qualified for the meet in Matthew Uballe, Carter Birade and Abel Jordan. The trio swept the podium last weekend at The Big West Championships, with Uballe earning gold with a wind-aided time of 13.71. Birade ran a 13.88 to place second and Jordan claimed third with a time of 13.99.
Another trio of Titans in the men's pole vault will also compete next week in the NCAA West Preliminary meet in Samuel Heinrichs, Ernesto Collazo and Daniel Palacio. Heinrichs posted a personal-best clearance mark of 5.33m to win the event at the Battle in the OC in April. Collazo cleared a personal-best mark of 5.18m at the same meet to place second, while Palacio posted a season-best 5.10m clearance at the Ben Brown Invite to take second.
Reyte Rash will be representing Fullerton at the preliminary meet in the men's 400m hurdles. Rash won the event at The Big West Championships with a school-record time of 50.95, becoming the first competitor in program history to run the 400m hurdles in under 51 seconds.
John Clifford will represent Fullerton as its lone competitor in the men's 100m. Clifford won gold in the 100m at The Big West Championships, running a wind-aided time of 10.26.
In the men's long jump, Christian Wood will compete in the preliminary meet as the Titans' lone representative. Wood tallied a season-best mark of 7.57m to win the event at The Big West Championships last weekend.
The regional meet will take place in Sacramento at Sacramento State's Hornet Stadium May 24-27. The men's events will be held May 24 and 26. ESPN+ will stream the meet live beginning at 6:00 p.m. PT May 24-25 and 5:00 p.m. May 26-27.
