FULLERTON, Calif. - Cooper Bibbs is the sixth student-athlete to sign a National Letters of Intent to join the Cal State Fullerton track and field program in the fall of 2019. Bibbs joins Reyte Rash, Deja Allain, Maya Occiano and Sierrah Rivera and Nathyn Scruggs as the six signees.
Bibbs, a native of Oceanside, graduated from Oceanside High School in 2016 and attended San Diego Mesa Community College for the 2017 and 2018 seasons. In high school, he posted a wind-aided 10.80 (+3.1) in the 100 meters of the San Diego Section Finals to take third place. His personal-best time in the 300-meter hurdles came at the San Diego Section Preliminaries when he ran 38.14. He also long jumped 21-7.5 in high school In community college, Bibbs strictly ran the 100 and 200 meters for his individual races, clocking personal-best times of 10.56 and 21.28. He took fourth place in the 2018 CCCAA California State Championships with a 100-meter dash time of 10.81 (-2.0 wind). At the same meet in 2017, Bibbs finished in third place in the 100 meters (10.69, -0.4 wind), fourth place in the 200 meters (21.36, -0.4 wind) and fifth in the men's 4x100-meter relay (41.23). He has been running unattached at various meets during the 2019 season.
