FULLERTON, Calif. - Cal State Fullerton women's track and field was represented by junior-to-be Samantha Huerta on the list of U.S. Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches' Association (USTFCCCA) All-Academic team. Including Huerta, a total of 880 women earned USTFCCCA All-Academic honors during the 2017-18 track & field seasons.
To qualify for USTFCCCA All-Academic honors, the student-athlete must have compiled a cumulative GPA of 3.25 and have met at least one of the following athletic standards:
- For the indoor season, a student-athlete must have finished the regular season ranked in the national top 96 in an individual event or ranked in the national top 48 (collective listing) in a relay event on the official NCAA POP list provided by TFRRS.org
- For the outdoor season, a student-athlete must have participated in any round of the NCAA Division I Championships (including preliminary rounds.
Huerta had an outstanding sophomore campaign as she won the Big West Championship in the 800-meter race and set three school records. She became the first Titan in program history to win the Big West title in the 800 meters with a time of 2:07.63. Huerta also scored in the 1,500-meter race with a third-place finish at 4:31.18. She posted school-record times of 2:07.36 in the 800 meters (Big West Challenge), 4:25.16 in the 1,500 meters (Bryan Clay Invitational) and 4:48.02 (Trojan Invitational) in the mile.
