Lee in Second, Hamm in Sixth after Day One of Combined Events

FULLERTON, Calif. – Cal State Fullerton track and field had three heptathletes and one decathlete representing the squad at day one of the Big West Championships Combined Events on Friday at Cal State Northridge. Dwayne Lee sits in second place in the decathlon after five events while Iesha Hamm is sixth in the heptathlon through four events. Competition resumes on Saturday at 11 a.m. PT. while the Titans also host the Titan Twiligh on Saturday afternoon. Field events begin at 3 p.m. at Titan Track Complex while running events start at 6 p.m.

Lee, who sits a 3,887 points and trails first place by just two, started off the day with a win in the 100-meter dash as he clocked the No. 2 time of his career (10.82, +0.2 wind) to score 901 points. He then took second in the long jump with a mark of 23-6.75 (7.18m, -1.0 wind) to score 857 points. Lee's toss of 42-6 (12.95m) in the shot put was good for third among the decathletes and added 664 points to his tally. He added 740 points when he high jumped 6-4 (1.93m) and wrapped up the day with 725 points in the 400-meter sprint as he clocked a time of 52.00.

Hamm sits in sixth place with 2938 points and she is 496 points off the lead. She opened up the competition with 748 points in the 100-meter hurdles as she clocked a time of 15.73 (-1.2 wind). She then cleared 5-9.25 (1.76m) in the high jump, the No. 2 mark of her career, to take second amongst competitors and add 928 points to her total. In the shot put, she had a toss of 29-7.5 (9.03m) for 466 points. Hamm ended the day with a time of 26.01 (-0.6 wind) in the 200 meters to score 796 points.

Vien sits in 12th place with a score 2,537 and 897 points behind the leader. She began the day with a time of 15.19 (-1.6 wind) in the 100-meter hurdles to score 817 points and finish seventh overall in the race. She cleared 4-7 (1.40m) in the high jump to score 512 points. Vien had a shot put toss of 28-5.5 (8.67m), good for 443 points. She then wrapped up day one with a 200-meter time of 26.37 (+1.4 wind) to score 765 points.

Agnew, who sits in 15th place (2,082 total points), clocked a 100-meter hurdles time of 15.74 (-2.7 wind) to start the day, scoring 746 points. Agnew failed to clear a bar in the high jump. In the shot put, Agnew had a toss of 33-11.5 (10.35m) that was worth 552 points. To wrap up the day, she clocked a 200-meter time of 26.15 (+1.4 wind) to score 784 points.
