Guzman-Sanchez and Clark Set School Records

FULLERTON, Calif. – Cal State Fullerton track and field was split between the Penn Relays and UC Irvine's Steve Scott Invitational on Friday and school records were set at both meets. Mason Guzman-Sanchez broke the CSF record in the 110-meter hurdles at the Penn Relays while Nicole Clark broke her own javelin school record at the Steve Scott Invitational.

Guzman-Sanchez clocked a time of 14.20 (+1.9 wind) to earned a ninth-place finish overall in the college section of the 110-meter hurdles. The previous record of 14.23 was set in 2016 by Aneesh Joshi. He improved his Big West-leading time of 14.21 (+3.7 wind) and that is currently the No. 23 time in the NCAA West Region. With his ninth-place finish in the preliminary round, Guzman-Sanchez qualified for the final of the event on Saturday at 12:20 p.m. PT.

Clark had a toss of 156-9 (47.77m) in the javelin to earn a first-place finish in the competition at UC Irvine. Clark's previous record was 144-11 (44.17m) set earlier this season at the Ben Brown Invitational. Her toss is the best in the conference and 25th in the NCAA West Region. Kelsey McKelvey was also in the competition and took seventh place with a throw of 120-11 (36.85m).

At the Penn Relays, Laura Hamann earned an 11th-place finish in the women's triple jump college section with a mark of 38-4.75 (11.70m). Edwin Matthews' clearance of 6-6.75 (2.00m) in the men's high jump was good for a 12th place tie in the college section. Dwayne Lee's mark of 22-10.75 (6.98m/-0.4 wind) was also good for 12th place in the men's college long jump section.

At the Steve Scott Invitational, Gabrielle De La Rosa earned a third-place finish in the women's 3K steeplechase with a personal-best time of 10:34.41. Freek van de Weerd clocked a 5K time of 14:43.07 to take sixth place overall while Sam Pimentel's time of 14:44.22 was good for 8th place.

Bryn Williamson's clearance of 12-5.5 (3.80m) in the women's pole vault was good for third place. Alysse McMillen took sixth place with a clearance of 11-11.75 (3.65m) and Shelby Noble was ninth at 11-5.75 (3.50m).

Alvin Sung's toss of 199-10 (60.91m) was good for first place in the men's javelin toss. Tanner Miller was third in the men's hammer throw with a personal-best toss of 183-6 (55.93m). Sinai Fatafehi had a hammer toss of 160-6 (48.93m) to take 13th place and Sierra Valdivieso was 20th with a toss of 145-2 (44.25m).

Brianna Jacklin took seventh place in the women's 5K with a time of 17:56.43 and Pamela Pelayo had a time of 18:28.21 in 14th place.

Onyx Gaston's wind-aided women's long jump mark of 17-11.50 (5.47m/+2.8 wind) was good 22nd place. On the men's side, Desran Desir long jumped 22-0.25 (6.71m/+0.9 wind) to take 18th place.
