Agnew Posts Personal-Best Score in Heptathlon

FULLERTON, Calif. – Cal State Fullerton track and field had two heptathletes compete at the Cerritos Invitational on Saturday while the throwers were at the UCSD Triton Invitational representing the Titans.

Jordan Agnew scored 4,409 points in the heptathlon at the Cerritos Invitational. That is a personal-best score that was good for third place overall but first among collegiate competitors. Her mark is also third in the Big West Conference on the year. She had a personal-best toss of 34-2 (10.42m) in the shot put, ran a personal-best 26.42 (-0.5 wind) in the 200-meter sprint and she posted a PR in the javelin with a toss of 99-7.5 (30.37m).

Tammy Vien scored 3,867 points in her first-ever heptathlon, taking fourth place overall and second among collegians. Vien's mark is seventh in the conference at this point in the season. She had a personal-best toss of 29-5 (8.97m) in the shot put, ran her fastest-ever 200-meter race at 26.69, long jumped 15-10 (4.83m) which is a personal best, had a personal-best toss of 74-1.75 (22.60m) in the javelin and ran the 800 in 2:42.47 for a PR.

At the UCSD Triton Invitational, Nicole Clark took fifth place in the invitational javelin competition with a toss of 142-01 (43.40m). Kelsey McKelvey was 11th at 121-0 (36.88m).

Alvin Sung threw the javelin 178-6 (54.41m), good for eighth place in the invitational section.

Sinai Fatafehi posted a toss of 40-6.75 (12.36m) in the women's shot put competition while Tanner Miller had a mark of 50-6.75 (15.41m) that was good for 12th place in the open section. Miller had a personal-best toss of 174-2 (53.08m) in the invitational hammer throw. Patrick Ng threw 173-6 (52.88m).

Austin Flores had a toss of 147-2 (44.85m) in the open discus competition. Adam Leiva posted a mark of 140-9 (42.90m) in the event.

The Titans will compete at the Mt. SAC Relays next weekend at El Camino College in Torrance, Calif.
