FULLERTON, Calif. – Cal State Fullerton track and field competed at three different meets on Friday with the majority of the squad at the UC Riverside Highlander Challenge, which was just a one-day meet. The throwers are competing at the UCSD Triton Invitational which began on Friday and resumes on Saturday. A pair of Titans are also competing in the heptathlon at the Cerritos Invitational which resumes on Saturday as well.

Thaddeus Smith won the men's 200-meter sprint yet again, his third straight meet winning that race, with a wind-aided time of 20.76. Luis Matos took fourth place with a wind-aided time of 21.39. (Since the wind was 4.1 meters per second, those time cannot be used as his qualifying time for the NCAA West Preliminaries, 4.0 meters per second is the cutoff.)

Marcel Espinoza won the men's 400-meter race for the second straight week as he clocked a time of 47.99. At 48.72, Smith was third and Matos was fourth at 48.77.

The Titans went 1-2-3 in the men's 110-meter hurdles, led by Mason Guzman-Sanchez at 14.21. In second place was Sam Schubert with a time of 14.37 and Charles Kelly was third at 14.79. All three times were wind-aided at 3.7 meters per second. Blake Rose was with a wind-aided time of 15.14 (+3.8 wind). Kelly took third in the 400-meter hurdles as well with a time of 55.59 and Rose was fifth again also, running the race in 57.21.

Kiana Clay won the women's 400-meter sprint with a time of 55.75 and right behind her in second place was Zuri Henderson at 56.10. Clay has run under 56 seconds in each of her three 400-meter races this season. Morgan Love (58.07) and Mia Franco (58.57) took fourth and fifth place in the event as well. Tyler Hardge's time of 62.26 in the 400-meter hurdles was good for third place while India Owens was fourth at 64.45.

The quartet of Hardge, Henderson, Owens and Clay won the 4x400-meter relay with a time of 3:48.21, the team's third-best time of the season.

Noah Metzdorff won the pole vault with a clearance of 14-9 (4.50m).

Sandra Flores earned a runner-up finish in the women's 800-meter run with a time of 2:16.69. Erick Juarez clocked a time of 1:55.75 to take fourth place on the men's side. Chris Malloy (1:57.07) and Robert Miyoshi (1:57.96) took fifth and sixth place in the event as well.

At the UCSD Triton Invitational, Sierra Valdivieso took second place in the open discus throw competition with a personal-best toss of 157-7 (48.05m).

Jordan Agnew and Tammy Vien began competition in the hepathlon on Friday at the Cerritos Invitational but the results of day one have not been posted. Presumably, they will post the full heptathlon results when the event is complete.
