FULLERTON, Calif. – Cal State Fullerton track and field kicked off the Ben Brown Invitational on Friday and junior Nicole Clark set a school record in the javelin with a toss of 144-11 (44.17m).
"It was a great start for Nicole," head coach John Elders said. "She can certainly throw a lot farther so that's very exciting for her and for us going forward."
Clark had a very consistent series, throwing over 40 meters on four of her six throws to earn a first-place finish. On attempt No. 5 is when Clark unleashed her school-record toss, besting Kelsey McKelvey's previous record of 139-11 (42.64m) set in 2017.

Senior heptathlete Jordan Agnew also had a personal-best toss of 97-5 (29.69m) in the javelin to earn a fifth-place finish. On the men's side, Alvin Sung finished in fifth place with a toss of 191-8 (60.39m).
Sinai Fatafehi took seventh place in the women's hammer after throwing 149-8 (45.61m). Sierra Valdivieso's toss of 147-8 (45.00m) was good for ninth place. For the men's hammer, Patrick Ng threw 179-8 (54.76m) and finished in eighth place while Tanner Miller took 12th place at 163-5 (49.81m).
Competition resumes on Saturday morning with the remaining field events and all of the track events.
