LOS ANGELES --- Junior Arianna Fuentes topped her personal best in the 3,000 meter steeplechase by 42 seconds as she clocked a time of 10:49.25 to place second on the first day of competition at the USC Trojan Invitational at Loker Stadium.

Her time currently ranks second in the Big West Conference this season.

In the men's 3,000 meters, the Titans top three finishers each set PRs as junior Jason Hillquist placed third (8:44.29), followed by redshirt freshman Sam Pimentel (8:44.69) and senior Joe Casco (8:51.13).

In the men's hammer throw, junior Trevor Gorwin fell just short of his record-breaking mark from last week and finished fourth at 60.44 meters.

Freshman Bertha Sola also set a new PR in the hammer throw as her mark of 45.81 meters was good for second place.

The Titans will continue to compete at the USC Trojan Invitational on Saturday.
