Titans Host Final Home Meet of Season This Saturday

FULLERTON, Calif. – The men's and women's outdoor track and field team will honor their seniors in their final home meet of the season, a five-way meet with NAU, CSUN, Fresno State and UCR, on Saturday at the Titan Track.

The Titans will be honoring 17 seniors with the ceremony scheduled for right before the running events at approximately 4:10 p.m.

The Titans will be honoring throwers Steven Parsons, JaQuan Scott, Emmanuel Martinez and Jessica Flores, while also honoring sprinters Elizabeth Claustro, Alexis and Alexandria Stewart, Nick Reynolds, Josh Gordon and Aneesh Joshi.

Jumpers Brionna Thompson and Lane Tran will be honored along with distance runners Kim Melenchinsky, Donald Bernard, Jeff Little, TJ Moffit and Tim Reed

LAST TIME OUT
Last weekend the Titans traveled to Waco, Tex. to compete in the Michael Johnson Invitational and saw many personal successes.

Junior Shelby Hernandez Jr. set a new school record in the 800-meter run with his time of 1:50.99, breaking the previous school record of 1:51.15 set by Sean Krinik in 2013.

The men also saw success as sprinters Darion Zimmerman and Eli Penick finished in 1st and 2nd in their heat in the 200m with their times of 21.34 and 21.45, respectively. Their times placed them into 4th and 5th respectively in the Big West.

A quartet of Titan women set new personal records in their respective events, with Ty'Jalayah Robertson and Laura Hamann breaking into the top five in the Big West in the triple jump.

Robertson jumped 12.15m, good for 2nd in the Big West while Hamann jumped 11.93m, good for 5th in the Big West.

Alexandria Stewart set two personal records in the 200m and the 400m with her times of 25.06 and 57.44, respectively.

Rounding out the group was Stephanie Cortez, who set a personal record in the 1,500m run, running a time of 4:41.99 and finishing 13th overall.

Saturday's one-day meet will begin with the men's hammer throw at 1 p.m. and take place all throughout the night with the last event scheduled to begin at 7:45 p.m.

Tickets will be sold at the north west entrance to the stadium and can be purchased for $5. Live results will also be available on finishedresults.com.
